Yesteryear Collection

In 1912, Dallas was still a small southern town. Cotton was the backbone of the economy and the oil boom that would bring a big city look to Dallas was still years away. Yet, there was enough population to demand a vigilant police force.
After the Civil War, Union soldiers stayed on and continued to act as Dallas' law enforcement.
When the troops finally left in 1881, the Dallas Police Department was officially born. Times were changing fast, the population was beginning to grow and the Dallas Police Department became efficient in responding to the growth. By this time, Henry Ford's "Tin-Lizzie" had made its impact on all of America, and police departments around the country were realizing the advantages of a motorized force. The 1912 Ford Model T was particularly popular; it offered, for the first time, doors in the front. It provided 22 horsepower @ 1600 rpms, power that certainly was appreciated by a Dallas law enforcement officer. Now, a 1912 Ford Model T is captured in an exciting die-cast replica marked with the official graphics of the Dallas Police Department. This model of a vintage turn-of-the-century police vehicle is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
